"Back On Down The Road"

sitting by the tracks outside of the yard, we hear the whistle blowing. yeah, the train’s trucking hard, and by the time it gets to us, well, it’s just going to fast to hop. under a bridge in nashville waiting for one to slow down so all of us could make it, when out of nowhere comes a sleezy metro cop. so, now we’re back out on the road; it’s the same story that’s always told… we’re back out on the road. finally, we saw a southbound freight, just sitting on the tracks, and with no debate, all seven of us moved back from the highway to the yard. we piled onto double-stacked flatbeds; riding dirty face makes it hard to hide your head, and when we got off the train, we were in birmingham… so now, we’re back out on the road; it’s the same story that’s always told. we’re back out on the road. we hitched a ride up to arkansas, sitting at a truckstop asking everyone we saw, “hey, man, would you happen to be headed west?”
