"Garbage Picker" lyrics

THE BELTONES LYRICS

"Garbage Picker"

Got a call from the loan shark, I'm past due on my borrowed time.
I really wish I could make good, but I blew it on roses and wine.
I tried to write him a letter, but the ink in my pen ran dry.
I think if I had it in me, I'd probably break right fucking down and cry.

Cos I never wanted to be some kind of garbage picker.
I really thought I'd be something by now.
I don't wanna be no garbage picker.
But I think I know somebody who can help me work it out.

Came and busted my door down when I was trying to catch a little peace.
Ain't it sad when the only time things go right is when you're fast asleep.
He said he wanted to talk, and I told him that talk was cheap.
He kicked me in the ribs and he took my baby, and now I'm too sick to speak.

Collected all the wits I had left, and I went to get a bite to eat.
That girl she brought me a sandwich, and it tasted just fine to me.
I took a look around the diner, all the people just pointed and laughed.
I guess that I'm the only one who didn't know that she pulled the thing right out of the trash.
